3xcalibur Launch Guide

3xcalibur Launch Guide

Greetings venerated Insurgent!

Mainnet is finally upon us! We are incredibly excited to launch the 3xcaliSwap platform, and hope that you will join in and rebel with us.

In this article, we will cover how to use the core functionalities of 3xcaliSwap and 3xcaliGovern.

  • How to bridge to Arbitrum
  • 3xcaliSwap core functionality
  • 3xcaliGovern core functionality

ATTENTION

THE OFFICIAL POOL FOR XCAL WILL BE ON OUR OWN DEX - USDC/XCAL. DO NOT ADD LIQUIDITY OR TRADE ANYWHERE ELSE. (unless you want to get rekt).

The Contract Address 0xd2568acCD10A4C98e87c44E9920360031ad89fCB page allows users to view the source code, transactions, balances, and analytics for the contract address. Users can also interact and make transactions to the contract directly on Arbiscan.

How to Bridge Assets to Arbitrum

There are three main ways to bridge Ethereum over to Arbitrum.

Through a CEX

One of the easier methods is using a CEX. There are quite a lot of central exchanges that support Arbitrum and allow users to send Ethereum or USDT over to the chain. Two examples are Binance and Kucoin.

  • Simply head over to your account balance on their platforms and select ETH.
  • Navigate to ‘Withdraw’ and for network select ‘Arbitrum’.
  • Paste/Fill in your MetaMask/wallet address and confirm the withdrawal.

Simple as that! The biggest plus to this method is that you do not have to bridge from Ethereum and incur large gas fees.

Through Arbitrum’s native bridge

Arbitrum has its own native bridge at https://bridge.arbitrum.io/. Make sure you have a balance in Ethereum on Mainnet in order to use this bridge.

  • Connect with MetaMask.
  • Input how much ETH you want to bridge over and click ‘Deposit’.
  • Wait for the MetaMask pop-up to show up with the transaction details. Note here that the gas fees for this transaction are incurred on Mainnet and thus can be expensive during times of high network demand.
  • If you are content with the price paid for the transaction and its size, click ‘Confirm’ in MetaMask.
  • On your screen, you will be able to monitor the process of the transaction. It will take a couple of minutes before you can utilize the bridged Ethereum on Arbitrum.

The Arbitrum bridge only supports Ethereum and selected ERC-20 tokens. Due to its design, it takes a couple of minutes to bridge to Arbitrum, but to bridge back to Ethereum from Arbitrum takes a week (if using this bridge!).

Through alternative bridges (Synapse, Hop etc.)

Besides the Arbitrum bridge, there are a ton of other bridges on the market. Each with its own design and pro’s and con’s. One of the benefits is that you can also bridge from other EVM-networks other than Ethereum. Another benefit is that these bridges offer instant withdrawals from Arbitrum and allow users to circumvent the 1-week delay of the native Arbitrum bridge.

Apeboard has a tool that allows users to select networks and see the list of bridges that support those for comparison. The process is very similar.

  • Connect with MetaMask and make sure you are on the right network.
  • Input how much of a certain crypto asset you want to bridge.
  • Wait for the MetaMask pop-up to show up and hit ‘Confirm’.

3xcaliSwap

As mentioned previously, 3xcaliSwap is based on the original Solidly codebase. We firmly believe in the notion that swaps need to align emissions with fees generated, instead of liquidity, in order to promote sustainability. What they originally set out to achieve still holds merit. It has never been more important for OpFi protocols to iterate on design mechanics in reaction to a changing market and the need to find sustainable ways of attracting liquidity.

We set out to make improvements to their mechanics as well as offering a much improved frontend UX/UI.

Core User Functionalities:

  • Swap
  • Deposit/withdraw liquidity (for stable or variable pools)

Swap Tokens:

The ability to swap tokens is one of the key functionalities of 3xcalibur. By the end of this guide, you will know how to make quick, cheap, and low slippage swaps on 3xcalibur.

How to Swap:

  • Under the 3xcaliSwap, you will find a tab called Single, referring to the simple single asset swap function of the platform.
  • When you open the Single tab, you see an interface where you can select the tokens you want to swap.
  • On the left (under You Pay) select the token you wish to trade and on the right (under You Receive) select the token you wish to receive.
  • In the top right of the interface, there are three bars. Clicking on the three bars gives you the ability to determine max slippage and deadline in minutes for the transaction to confirm.
  • Above the Swap button, useful information is shown regarding the swap rate, price impact, and routing of the swap.
  • If satisfied with the swap terms, hit Swap and Metamask transactions will pop-up.

Adding Liquidity

3xcalibur Pools:

3xcaliSwap offers users two kinds of pools. Stable pools (correlated assets) and Variable pools (uncorrelated assets.

A "stable pool" that allows traders to trade between correlated assets with minimum slippage e.g. USDC-DAI.

x³y+y³x=kx³y + y³x = kx³y+y³x=k

A "variable pool" that allows traders to trade between volatile assets e.g. ETH-USDC

Using the standard constant product formula.

x∗y=kx*y=kx∗y=k

Steps to Add Liquidity:

  • Under the 3xcaliSwap page, you will find a tab called Pools.
  • When you open the Pools tab, you will find a list of various pool pairs on the platforms divided over three tabs: Top Pools, All Pools, and My Pools. The latter obviously consists of the pools you already LP’d to.
  • Select a pool that you want to LP to and hit Manage on the right,
  • This leads to an interface with the two tokens and a Deposit and Withdraw tab. In this case, we want to stay on the Deposit tab.
  • Select the amount of the tokens you want to LP and hit Deposit & Stake or Deposit if there is no gauge created for that pool. In the case of Deposit & Stake your LP tokens will immediately be staked in the gauge and eligible for bribes.
  • Select the desired action and Metamask transactions start to pop up.
  • Sign and confirm the Metamask transactions to finalize.

Note: if the pool is whitelisted you are able to stake the LP tokens in the gauge to earn bribe rewards.

Note: as a liquidity provider, you are subject to Impermanent Loss.

Withdrawing liquidity from a Swap pool:

  • Under the 3xcaliSwap page, you will find a tab called Pools.
  • When you open the Pools tab, you will find a list of various pool pairs on the platforms divided over three tabs: Top Pools, All Pools, and My Pools. The latter obviously consists of the pools you already LP’d to.
  • Go to My Pools and hit Manage of the pool you want to remove liquidity from.
  • This leads to an interface of said pool with a Deposit and Withdraw tab. In this case, navigate to the Withdraw tab.
  • Select the amount of tokens you want to remove from the pool. Note that you are able to input the amount of LP tokens you want to remove and below it will show the exact token breakdown that is returned to your wallet.
  • If you have staked your LP tokens to the gauge, you have the option to Unstake or Unstake & withdraw.
  • Select the desired action and Metamask transactions will pop-up.

How To: Vote

To vote on 3xcalibur, users need to vote to lock their XCAL. By doing so, participants can boost rewards on their provided liquidity and vote on all DAO proposals.

There is no minimum voting power required for voting.

Voting power

veXCAL stands for vote escrowed XCAL; it's a locker in NFT form where users can lock their XCAL for different time frames to gain voting power.

Users can lock their XCAL for a minimum of a week and a maximum of 3.69 years. As users with long voting escrow have more stake, they receive more voting power.

How to vote

  • Under the 3xcaliGovern page, you will find a tab called Vote.
  • When you open the Vote tab, you see your voting power, your remaining voting power, and a list of all pools you are able to vote on.
  • Select a veNFT from the scroll-down menu. This veNFT is created when you lock your XCAL for a predefined time period, see our How to Lock-guide.
  • The veNFT has a certain amount of voting power that can be divided over one or more pools.
  • From the pool, list select one or more pools. At the bottom of the list, you are able to set weights for each pool. Do you want to give pool X the majority of your votes, simply increase the weight percentage for that pool. Keep in mind, the total has to always add up to 100 (100%). You can either use the slide bars or put in numbers.
  • After selecting the pools and adjusting the vote weights, hit Vote and Metamask transactions will pop-up.

How to: Create a Bribe

By steering rewards to their own token’s 3xcalibur liquidity pools, protocols can ensure that more people will participate in those pools and fuel the growth of their tokens.

Please note: You can only bribe a pool with a gauge, and only whitelisted tokens can have a gauge.

To create a Bribe:

  • Under the 3xcaliGovern page, you will find a tab called Bribe.
  • Here you can find a list of all pools with their liquidity, outstanding bribes, and APR.
  • Navigate to your desired pool and hit Manage.
  • This will bring up an interface where you are able to create bribes.
  • Select the token and token amount and hit Create bribe. Metamask transactions will pop-up.
3xcalibur - 5 October 2022

How To: Claim Rewards

There are two types of rewards on the 3xcalibur platform:

1) Liquidity mining rewards, denoted in XCAL.

2) Bribe rewards that can be denoted in any asset.

If your pool has been heavily bribed, you could receive multiple assets. See the video clip for an example.

Both the rewards and the bribes can be found on the same interface. They are made distinct under the Reward type column.

How to claim rewards

  • Under the 3caliGovern page, you will find a tab called Rewards.
  • On this page, you will be able to see all your rewards ranging from bribes to liquidity mining rewards.
  • You can claim everything at once by hitting Claim all veNFT rewards or sort the rewards on veNFT and individually selecting which rewards you want to claim.
  • After you made your selection and you hit Claim, Metamask transactions will pop-up.
